The Space
What is Hunã?
Hunã is a modern reimagining of the tiki tradition, hidden beneath Echelon Kitchen & Bar in downtown Ann Arbor. Designed as an escape from the everyday, Hunã invites guests to descend into another world — lush, glowing, and untethered by time. Each cocktail balances nostalgia and innovation, island spice and theatrical flair. Chef Joseph VanWagner's island-inspired pu-pu's pair perfectly with the mood. Find the discreet door on Washington Street, just west of South Main. Look for the neon arrow.
How many guests can Hunã accommodate for a private event?
Hunã is available for private buyouts for groups of 60 to 140 guests.
Is Hunã available for private events only, or is it open to the public as well?
Hunã is open to the public Thursday through Saturday. Thursday hours are 7pm to 12am; Friday and Saturday hours are 7pm to 2am. No membership required. When not booked exclusively for a private event, Hunã welcomes all guests.

How do I book Hunã for a private event?

What days is Hunã available for private buyouts?
Hunã is available for private buyouts any day of the week. Contact our events team to discuss your preferred date.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for weekend dates and peak seasons. Food and beverage package selections are due 14 days prior to your event; final guest count and dietary restrictions are due 7 days prior.
Is a deposit required to hold the space?
Yes. A deposit equal to 25% of the minimum spending requirement is required to secure your date, along with a completed credit card authorization form and a signed contract.
Is there a rental fee?
There is no room rental fee. Instead, Hunã buyouts are subject to a food and beverage minimum. Sunday through Thursday the minimum is $15,000; Fridays and Saturdays the minimum is $20,000. Minimums may increase based on local events and holidays. If a party does not meet the minimum through food and beverage spending, the difference is charged as a room fee.
When is final payment due?
Full payment is charged to the credit card on file. Food and beverage package choice is due 14 days prior to your event; final guest count and any dietary restrictions are due 7 days prior.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations within 2 weeks of the event date will not receive a refund of the deposit. Cancellations within 72 hours will also incur an additional fee equal to 25% of the minimum spending requirement.
Are gratuity and service charges included in the per-person pricing?
Per-person pricing does not include gratuity or service charges. All private event checks include an automatic 22% gratuity, which goes to the service team, and a 3% wellbeing fund fee, which supports non-tipped team members including line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers.
Membership
Do I need to be a member to book a private event at Hunã?
No. Membership is not required to book a private buyout at Hunã. Private events are open to all guests. Hunã is also open to the public Thursday through Saturday with no membership required. Membership does offer perks including priority entry, monthly complimentary cocktails, and access to members-only nights. Membership is currently full; email membership@huna.bar to join the waitlist.
Bar & Food
What bar service is included in a Hunã buyout?
Full bar service is included with all buyouts. Custom cocktail menus are available.
Is food available during a Hunã buyout?
Yes. Hunã buyouts are served with passed hors d'oeuvres and a buffet-style main course starting at $195 per person. Guests select four passed hors d'oeuvres, five buffet-style main dishes, and three desserts from a seasonal menu. Coffee, assorted teas, and soft drinks are included. Current menu selections are confirmed at time of inquiry.
Can we bring our own wine or alcohol?
Yes. Corkage is available at $40 per bottle.
Logistics
How long is the space reserved for my event?
The space is reserved for 3 hours. Overtime is available; pricing is based on the minimum spend. Contact our events team for details.
Is there early access for setup?
Early access for setup is available based on availability. There is no fee.
Can we bring our own decorations?
Yes. Decorations are welcome with a few restrictions: no glitter, and balloons may not obstruct security cameras.
Will we have dedicated staff for our event?
Yes. Every private event at Hunã includes dedicated service staff assigned to your group for the duration of the event.
Accessibility & Parking
Is Hunã ADA accessible?
Yes. Hunã is ADA accessible and equipped with a lift.
Is there parking near Hunã?
Street parking is available on Washington Street. The closest parking structures are Fourth & Washington Structure at 123 E Washington Street (1 minute walk), First and Washington Parking Structure at 215 W Washington Street (3 minute walk), and S Ashley Street Lot at 309 S Ashley Street (3 minute walk).

Do you accept University of Michigan P-cards or shortcodes?
Yes, we accept University of Michigan P-cards. Shortcodes are not accepted at this time.
Do you host University of Michigan department events and corporate functions?
Yes. Hunã welcomes University of Michigan department events, corporate functions, and professional gatherings. Contact our events team to discuss your group's needs.
Do you host pharmaceutical dinners?
Yes. Hunã welcomes pharmaceutical dinners and corporate dining events. Contact our events team to discuss your group's needs.
General
What types of events is Hunã best suited for?
Hunã is well suited for cocktail receptions, brand events, milestone celebrations, holiday parties, and after-dinner parties. The buyout format, passed hors d'oeuvres followed by a buffet-style dinner, works naturally for groups that want a social, fluid evening rather than a seated dinner.
